Grande Ways to Personalize Your Coffee

If you thought the menu board at your favorite coffee shop already provided enough tongue twisting ways to personalize your favorite java - get ready to add another option to your order with cup-coats.

Forty-seven-year-old Kellie Turner saw a lot of heads turn when she told people about her idea to create a coat for her favorite cup of coffee – venti mocha with whip cream.

Despite some initial reservations from her caffeinated friends, Turner felt she had a good idea; so she dusted off her 25-year-old sewing machine, purchased materials ranging from fleece to gore windstopper, and turned her kitchen stove into a thermal testing area.

The result was a fashionable and reusable coffee sleeve that got her friends talking, and soon attracted business partners. Turner lined up manufacturing, launched a website, and to date has sold over 10,000 cup-coats in the U.S., Canada, and all over Europe.

“Cup-coats bridge the gap between using a mug, with all the washing and lugging around, and a completely disposable drink set-up," Turner explained. "Cup-coats are reusable and tuck easily into a purse or pocket, while still being slim enough to fit into a vehicle cup holder."

Cup Couture currently has five collections available - Diva, Beasts, Jet Set, Men, and Glamorous. The cup-coats range in price from $12-$16, protect hands with a thermal lining, and fit most 12-20 oz. disposable cups. (The equivalent of tall, grande, and venti at Starbucks.)

“I go straight to the fashion magazines for the latest looks,” said Turner. “We marry those looks with great movie themes and American personalities like James Bond and Andy Warhol, and exotic travel destinations like Palm Springs.”

Cup-coats can be purchased on-line at Cup Couture, and can be found in trendy coffee shops, boutiques, and gourmet grocery stores across the country.
